A brilliant time lapse from Robert J Scott

If you’ve been a previous visitor to this site you already know I’ve taken a great interest in time lapse photography, although my equipment and the videos I have produced are strictly amateur hour stuff (I have fun though). The work you see here is what I wish I could do.

Back to the video, it’s a brilliant time lapse from photographer Robert J. Scott. I could go on and on about his work that’s seen here, speaking its accolades. Instead of hearing about it from me though, just watch it. It’s simply amazing.

What I really enjoy about this video is the subject, the old farm houses, lonely back road places and the forgotten. It’s melancholy and just incredibly interesting to me and hopefully to you too. I’d say he nailed it and I completely understand what he was trying to convey.

The places and things seen in this video were shot all over Alberta. I have suspicions about the locations of some of the them but one I recognize for certain is the Kent family farmhouse seen in the 1978 movie Superman (near the end of the video). Connie and I visited this place before and you can see that report by clicking the link below…

Date: 2012.
Location: Various places throughout Alberta.

This is nice! I see you did some time lapses of your own and can you tell me about the camera and equipment you use? It looks like fun. Thanks in advance.

We have a poor man’s time lapse rig made from an old Canon camera and other cheap bits, along with a hack program that allows the camera to do interval shooting. It’s cheap and light but it will never produce a video the quality of this one. But it’s still fun anyway. I am currently writing an article this very subject (since a lot have asked) and hopefully I can have it done soon and posted. Thanks for commenting!
