Pinball!
If you want to play pinball in Calgary there are only a few spots where these machines can be found, one of them being the Flames Community Arena in the southwest. Owned and maintained by enthusiasts, they are kept in fine running order. Every now and then old machines are pulled, replaced by new ones. Rotating them in and out this way keeps things fresh.
This author has been passionately playing pinball since the 1970s. Back then they could be found everywhere, today not so much, and besides this location there are always a few at the airport. If you’re a local pinhead and want to play, these are your choices.
The machines seen on our visit included a Bally Revenge From Mars (1999, the last Bally model made), a William’s Whitewater (1993, my fav of the group), a Bally World Cup Soccer (1994), a William’s Demolition Man (1994) and finally, an out of order Stern (a couple years old at most). I’m not a fan of that last make – some of their models are “meh” at best, but most are spectacularly bad – more often then not, I’d rather not play, than play a Stern.
Enough talk, time to thrown in another loonie, and show this machine who’s boss.

Play there all the time!
It’s about time I revisited the place.
Tubby Dog has a Funhouse.
Love that game. “You big sausage!”
Those gentlemen that are running the pinball machines and tournaments over there are doing a good thing, but they have machines at many establishments all over Calgary. Not having a business license and not paying taxes on your loonie that you put in, is going to catch up with them sometime.
Okay, you’ve piqued our curiosity. What did these guys do to cheese you off?
FYI
that is my name but I did not write that comment.that sounds ridiculous. Someone is using my name and writing this nonsense. I’m a pinball fanatic.what the xxxx do I care about taxes. Whoever runs this forum, should check what email this impostor is using so I can track him down and stomp his face into the ground T2 style.
Okay, It’s an odd one, but I’m enjoying this troll.
Ivo the imposter, you sound like our current Federal Government. The “business” around operating pinball machines typically isn’t hugely profitable once you really factor in all of your time and resources. Go find another bridge to lurk around.
Indeed, most pinballs on location fail to break even let alone make money. Operators accept that I suppose and do it out of love of the game.
Used to play as a kid. Haven’t seen one in years!
They are getting hard to find.
