It Begins at the Egremont Hotel
It begins! Here’s a photo from the very first location shoot, in special series planned long ago and that after endless false starts is now reality. It’s something we talked about with film photographer Rob Pohl (a good friend) for what seems like eons, and now that the world has somewhat returned to normal, we’re able to jump in. It’s going to be a big one and we’ll likely be on for years.
We have a working title, the Beer Parlour Project and the concept is simple. We’ll be visiting small town hotel pubs (a dying breed, by the way) to soak up the ambience, chat with local characters and snap a few photos.
We’re hoping to capture a little Canadiana and of course, we’ll be looking at the old buildings where it’s all taking place. A lot of these venerable structures go back to the early days and are full of history.
It’ll be people and and their stories at the local watering hole, with portraits shot on digital and film. Stay tuned for more info as we progress. Here’s a pic from first stop, the Egremont Hotel in Egremont Alberta, a bit north of Edmonton. We’re at the Hidden Gems Tavern: the beers were cold, the burger was amazing and No-Shirt Alvin had us in stitches.
Yeah, this is going to awesome!
More old school hotels…
Windsor Hotel Trout Lake and Historic Hotels Crowsnest Pass.
Short Subjects: Reports that are short and sweet in nature. Think silly little snippets, vignettes and things of that sort. You’ll be in and out in no time!
