Great to see your story about Hilda. I grew up on a farm about 5 miles from Hilda on the Saskatchewan side of the border. As a young boy I loved going to Hilda with my father. We would visit Schneider Motors, he was a funny character, the pool room (so much fun watching the old timers play pool), Austin's store full to the rafters with everything from soup to nuts & bolts, the post office (we got our mail there until Horsham had their own) and of course the little Chinese cafe where we would have a coke or a milkshake if we were lucky that day. I remember Jimmy Austin was quite the character too and Wilbur Kissenger who owned the pool hall I believe. He seemed bigger than life and didn't strike me as a man you would cross. Once I was 16 I remember hauling grain to the elevator, first in Hilda, then in Horsham. Playing hockey on the old outdoor rink was always a blast. Such good memories growing up in the Hilda, Horsham and Richmound communities.
